Sadly, the powers of nature got to our poor little eggs before we could. The eggs got swept away by the pond flooding (we are 95% sure). But, we sy Dove matting with Jacob, so maybe there will be new ducklings after all.
We are happy to say that we are having more ducklings! But not happy to say that at our neighborhood pond, only we are happy. The neighbors seem to be fed up with the poor duck's feces, and they want to stop it! So instead of enjoying little ducklings running around, we have to not step on cracked eggs. Yes, some people have been smashing duckling eggs! We have a couple pregnant ducks, one duck that lost her chicks, and Dove a very concerned mother of 5 eggs. We are keeping an eye on Dove, and will take some pictures tomorrow. Dove stays by the nest most of the time, and when she isn't she has two males stand nearby. But how will we protect the eggs from people? How will we save the ducklings? We will write more tomorrow.
